Grafts come from the densest band
The mid-occipital strip is the most permanent, densest donor hair on the scalp. FUE has to roam into thinner territory to find the same numbers.

Technique
3,000 to 4,500+ grafts in one session, closed with the HUMS protocol into a line that surrounding hair covers completely.
Classic strip surgery earned its reputation for scarring honestly: wide excisions, closures under tension, and nothing done to protect the follicles at the wound edge. The result was often a visible band that limited how short a patient could ever wear their hair.
FUT 2.0 changes the geometry rather than the principle. The strip is narrower relative to laxity, the dissection plane preserves follicles along both wound edges so hair grows through the closure, and tension is distributed rather than concentrated at the line. The scar that results is typically around a millimetre wide and disappears under normal hair.

Every unit is trimmed under a stereo microscope, so transection is near zero and each graft keeps its protective tissue.
Four to six hours yields what would take multiple FUE days, which matters for cost, travel and total recovery time.
Nothing is wasted on buried or transected follicles, which preserves the budget for future sessions.
Hairline drawn with you at the mirror, donor area measured, plan confirmed.
Nerve blocks numb donor and recipient fields before any incision.
The strip is taken and the donor area closed with the HUMS protocol within the first hour.
The team separates the strip into individual follicular units, sorted by hair count.
Recipient sites are cut to match graft calibre, angle and direction, area by area.
Single-hair units at the hairline, larger groupings behind, to the planned density.
