Female restoration

Hair restoration for women

Diffuse thinning, widening parts, traction alopecia and hairline lowering — planned differently from male pattern loss, because they are different problems.

Why female cases need different planning

Male pattern loss is predictable: it recedes and thins in known zones while the back and sides stay permanent. Female loss is usually diffuse — thinning spread across the top, often including the area a surgeon would want to harvest from.

So the first job is not surgical. It is working out why the hair is thinning: thyroid function, iron and ferritin, hormonal change, medication, traction from tight styling, or genetic female pattern loss. Operating on an undiagnosed medical cause wastes donor hair on a process that will continue.

Who tends to do well

01

Hairline and temple restoration

A stable donor area and a defined target zone make this the most reliably satisfying female case.

02

Traction alopecia

Loss from years of tight braiding or extensions, where the pattern is mechanical and has stopped progressing.

03

Scar camouflage

Hair placed into facelift, brow-lift or injury scars at the hairline.

04

Part-line density

Targeted thickening along the part in patients whose donor area is genuinely unaffected.

Non-surgical options we discuss first

01

Medical therapy

Topical minoxidil and, where appropriate, prescription options managed alongside your physician.

02

PRP

Supports miniaturising follicles; useful for holding ground in diffuse thinning.

03

SMP along the part

Reduces scalp show instantly without touching the donor area.

04

Styling and traction change

Unglamorous, free, and the single most effective intervention in traction cases.
